Indian PM Modi and Spanish President Pedro Sanchez jointly inaugurated joint venture of TATA- AIRBUS C-295 Military transport aircraft manufacturing facilities in Badodara ,Gujrat ,India last week two days before diwali.
In Sep 2021, India sign a deal of Rs 21000 cr with Airbus defence and space to procure 56 C-295 military aircraft to replace ageing AVRO-748 aircraft of Indian Air Force.
Under this agreement AIRBUS will deliver the first 16 aircraft in Fly-away condition out of which 6 aircraft already reached in india from field assembly line Serville ,Spain to India within four years. And next 40 aircraft will be manufactured and assembled by Tata Advance System Limited (TASL) in India as part of an Industrial partnership between the two companies under Make In India scheme.
So, following the timeliness of agreement Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Spanish President Pedro Sanchez inagurated joint venture of TATA- Airbus manufacturing facilities.
The facilities involved full development of ecosystem from manufacturing to assembly in India only, which will boost Atmanirbhar bharat policy of Modi government. Following the agreements 37 MSMEs contracted for manufacturing of 13000 out of 14000 small parts of C-295 aircraft in India. It will also provide employment of thousands of people .
About C-295:-
1. It is double engine military transport aircraft designed by Spain and manufactured by AIRBUS in 🇪🇸.
2. It can fly 482 km/hrs, and carry 71 soldiers or 48 paratroopers.
3. It’s Battle tested and low maintenance cost, that’s why it has been procure by so many countries, including Bangladesh.
