Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud arrived in India on Wednesday in his maiden official visit after Presidential election in Bangladesh held in January 2024.
Firstly he met with External Affairs Minister of India Dr S Jaishankar and discussed step to “forged ahead in their “vibrant and people-centric partnership”.And also exchanged views on regional and international developments along with multilateral issues of common interest. They expressed commitment to further enhance their collaboration to promote sub-regional cooperation within framework of BIMSTEC,IORA and BBIN.
They also discussed area of future engagement in line with the national developmental goals of the two countries including the vision of “Smart Bangladesh 2041” and “Developed Bharat 2047”.
During their interaction, both ministers reviewed the progress in wide ranging area of bilateral relationship including cross border connectivity, economic and developmental partnership, cooperation in Defense and Security, Energy,Power,Water Resources and to enhance People to People exchange.
EAM Dr S Jaishankar also hosted a dinner in his honour.
During his visit ,FM Dr Hasan Mahmud also held a meeting with National Security Adviser of India Dr Ajit Doval and talked about current security scenarios in Bangladesh and Bay of Bangal regions.
The visit of FM of Bangladesh Dr Hasan Mahmud to India is the part of ongoing high lavel exchange between the countries and has enabled both side to chart out the course of their forward looking engagement during the new term of government in Bangladesh.
