Prime Minister of India Narerendra Modi inaugurated the airstrip of Agalega Island, Saint James Jetty and other development projects with Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth of Mauritius through Video Conference Today.
Prime Minister Modi said that ” The India- Mauritius relationship is an example of our SAGAR goodwill, our neighborhood first priority and our Forward Africa Solidarity”.
Project SAGAR:-
Security and Growth for All in the Regoin ( SAGAR), It is strategic vision of India in Indian Ocean Region (IOR) of Asia and Africa to deepen Economics and Security Co-operation with its maritime neighbours and assist in building their maritime security capabilities. For this, India would cooperate on the exchange of information, coastal surveillance, building of infrastructure and strengthening their capabilities.
Policy Neighbourhood First:-
The Neighborhood First policy, inter alia, is aimed at physical, digital and People to People connectivity across the Indian Ocean region along with augmenting trade and commerce.
